clueless chrissy.

has some faction of pop culture that i don't pay attention to - i.e. american idol, SNL, perez hilton, youtube, anything played on the radio - brought back the exclamations "yowza" and "wowza"??

i've been noticing them creeping up into conversation and correspondence with friends/acquaintances/colleagues for the past few months, but recently i've been seeing the words SO often i've decided it just has to be some new trend that i'm not privy to.

so what am i missing? or is this just happening because i'm getting older, so yowza is a necessary language adjustment i have to get used to, like calling the guy next to me "sonny boy" and exclaiming "oh my heavens".

this post reminds me of one of my grandma's expressions that she used for similar reasons, which was "wow-dy woo-dee."

"Yowza" sounds like something you'd read in a Archie comic strip.

the old-timey expression i'd like to propose we bring back is "the dickens!" because it can be used in many ways such as: "what the dickens," "where the dickens," "the dickens you are!," and "the dickens you say!"

sissy, you totally neglected the dumbo's circus reference here. come on, you know we try to throw in late 80s live action puppet shows wherever possible.

yowza yowza yowza.

ph - i feel like a little dance should accompany a "wow-dy woo-dee".

quick fact: i learned the meaning of the word "uncouth" from an archie comic. it involved moose, and his eating habits.

itm - i am partial to "it hurts like the dickens!"

sissy - I TRIED!!! i couldn't do it nicely. but i was picturing fair dinkum shouting yowza the entire time i wrote it.
