I remember buying a penny paperback copy of Peter Pan a few years ago, reading it for the first time, and believing it was one of the best childhood action/adventure tales I'd ever picked up.

Of course, it REALLY helps that the main character is named Peter, and that he is (by rule) the fastest, strongest, and smartest.

ph - i hope i don't upset you by saying this, but peter pan has always creeped me out. perhaps its b/c i'm only watched the disney movie and never read the book?

ss23 - i can't access the full links! my guess is they involve bacon, for which i forgive you not knowing about the phantom tollbooth

i'm not gonna lie, M&C, Peter Pan is definitely right up there in the pantheon of highly creepy Disney characters. Little sprightly boy who doesn't mind knocking shit over as he flies around the room for no reason AND comes to you only when you're sleeping through your giant dark window? I mean, come on.

The book is much better, but still very weird in that way that old Grimm fairy tales are. I won't deny it.

I wrote a post that was a total reference to the Phantom Tollbooth that made fun of a friend of mine.

Also, I started reading the Phantom Tollbooth when I was in third grade because I thought it was a Doctor Who book. I stopped when I the Doctor never showed up.

chuckles - so are you saying you hate the p. tollbooth? give it another try!

ss23 - i will email you for the links! anything for new bacon information. =]
